9300i WLAN Background Scanning - 12-22-2009, 11:35 AM

Please may someone enlighten me. I have a Nokia 9300i, and have set WLAN Background Scan Interval to Never.

However, when I get near to WiFi access points, I can see them in the Netwoks tab.

Is this a problem or it's how it works?
